Hello! Thanks for stopping by and welcome to Teaching From The Front, a blog about the (mostly!) wonderful world of teaching Secondary English in Scotland. For obvious reasons, I can’t give my name, but I am currently completing my probationary year of teaching in a Scottish secondary school and have been lucky enough to totally click with the profession!

On this blog, you’ll find a mix of reflections on teaching, covering good lessons, bad lessons, pedagogy that works for me and pedagogy that doesn’t. Teaching is a fantastic job that I feel is worth all the sweat, blood and tears you put into it; while I may be tempted to have a bit of a moan about things in Scottish teaching that I don’t think are great, the main point of this blog will be to talk positively about teaching. Because it is worth all the hard work and because the highs are always so much better than the lows!
